The main problem is people fighting over Osage land, and it's shown through personal relationships that mix trust and betrayal. DiCaprio's character is caught in a moral mess as he finds out what people around him are really up to. The story uses real history, but some characters feel like they're only there because of their connection to the crime.
Scorsese doesn't go for big dramatic moments. He prefers quiet scenes, which can make the tension feel low at times. The film sometimes moves too slowly, with too much talking and not enough character growth. Still, the steady pace matches how slowly the secrets are uncovered.
DiCaprio and De Niro share scenes with restrained intensity, their dialogue laced with unspoken history. Lily Gladstone brings raw vulnerability to her role, grounding the film’s moral complexities in personal stakes. Jesse Plemons delivers a performance that is both calculating and emotionally layered, adding depth to his antagonist.
The big picture of history can make some characters feel less important. But the main story is still strong, helped by performances that don't go over the top. It's a powerful look at injustice, and it leaves room for people to find redemption and have complex emotions.

My verdictIt's a serious story about real events, but it also focuses on personal relationships. The film gets a bit long, and sometimes that makes it harder to feel connected to the characters.
